Maker Faire Rome - The European Edition is once again the unmissable showcase of the innovation. This year from 10th to 13th December, makers, companies, institutions, schools, universities and research centres will be the protagonists of a special edition. Due to the health emergency, the event will be held in a new format on a digital platform organised into thematic channels dedicated to the main topics.

PRISMA Lab will exhibit HYFLIERS, a Horizon 2020 project that has developed the world's first integrated robot with hybrid air and ground mobility with a long reach hyper-redundant manipulator capable of reaching sites where no other robot can access reducing the exposure of human inspectors to potentially dangerous working conditions. Professor Vincenzo Lippiello will show the prototype in action. REFILLS, another project funded under Horizon 2020, concerns a robotized depalletizing system –packages unloading process on a pallet– designed to be easily integrated into warehouse logistics processes.

ICAROS Center directed by Professor Bruno Siciliano will show some solutions relating to Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery, a research topic that focuses on automation of robot-assisted surgical procedures. Dr. Fanny Ficuciello will present BARTOLo, a robotic system to make an accurate diagnosis of prostate cancer and PRISMA Hand II, a prototype of a robotic hand designed as a prosthesis for amputees so that they can regain the autonomy of everyday gestures. A solution that is the result of MUSHA research, a project on surgical robotics and assistance for the development of future generations of bio-inspired instruments and advanced paradigms of manipulation coordinated by Dr. Ficuciello.

CREATE Consortium, which operates in collaboration with PRISMA Lab and ICAROS Center, will have an info-point to present two projects on European networks for technology transfer in Robotics: Digital Innovation Hub² (DIH²) in the field of agile production of manufacturing companies and Robotics for Infrastructure Inspection and Maintenance (RIMA). After the launch of the first open calls, their respective results and future steps will be show.

Professor Bruno Siciliano, founder of the robotics session at Maker Faire Rome, will take part in one of the several meetings organised by I-RIM like "How digital is changing the world: impacts in the social and professional sphere and in the sustainability of production processes" on 10 December at 10.30, with a contribution entitled: "The Future we are experiencing: Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Automation". Furthermore, he will participate in the round table on Robotics and Research on 11 December 2020 at 14.00 with Professor Gaetano Manfredi, Minister of University and Research.

The ICAROS center will present a paper in the Human-Robot Interaction, Teleoperation, and Virtual Reality section and another one in the Grasping, Haptics and End-effectors section.
